HELP!
If someone collapses or stops breathing, many of us will fly into action and render assistance and aid. Knowledge of First Aid and CPR allows us to quickly and confidently help stabilise a person in need until emergency medical services can arrive.

But would you know what to do if faced with someone who is openly distressed, anxious, panicky and even suicidal?

A less known but equally essential skill is psychological first aid. Psychological first aid allows you to identify a person who may be suffering through an emotional or psychological issue and may need immediate attention. It is the first point of contact and engagement that allows you to psychologically and emotionally stabilise, connect, and link up those in need with the appropriate services and help they require.

When dealing with psychological and emotional issues, it's not always easy to see who is suffering and who needs help or even what kind of help is needed.

CAE's Counselling Psychology programmes will give you the skills and knowledge to help those who need psychological first aid. The Programmes cover a range of theoretical, analytical, conceptual and function skills to prepare you to work effectively as a counsellor.
